Eric Mower and Associates (EMA) announced today that Saleem Cheeks has been promoted to senior account supervisor in the agency’s public affairs group.
As a member of EMA’s public affairs group, Mr. Cheeks provides issue-related strategic communications counsel to a broad array of public and private sector clients. His clients include those focusing on industrial manufacturing, healthcare, education and renewable energy.
Before joining EMA’s Albany team in October 2006, Mr. Cheeks served as Gov. George Pataki’s deputy press secretary. In that role, he was the governor’s spokesman in such policy areas as economic development, homeland security, emergency management, Indian affairs, gaming, transportation, local government, parks, historic preservation and military affairs.
A graduate of the State University of New York College at Oswego, Mr. Cheeks is a member of his alma mater’s College Council, and also serves as a Trustee on the Board of the Achievement Academy Charter School located in Albany, N.Y.
