SYRACUSE, NY—August 14, 2023— Mower, an employee-owned and women-led marketing, advertising and public relations agency, has been named one of the Rochester Business Journal’s 2023 Elevating Women award winners. Selected by a panel of Rochester Business Journal editors, the Elevating Women award honorees demonstrate a commitment to supporting and empowering women in the state of New York.

Mower is entirely owned by its majority-female employees, and women currently make up four of Mower’s seven core executive team members. In January 2023, former Chief Operating Officer Stephanie Crockett was elevated to chief executive officer, solidifying Mower’s 55-year-strong commitment to merit-based employment decisions that have resulted in a strong representation of women among agency leadership.

“Mower is an organization that wouldn’t be where it is today were it not for the many strong women who chose to join the company,” said Founder and Executive Chairman Eric Mower. “Going forward, the selection of Stephanie Crockett earlier this year as our chief executive officer reflects my total faith in her ability to continue the company’s growth and make our employee stock ownership plan all that we hope it will be.”

Through strong leadership representation, hiring and promoting efforts, flexible work arrangements, and significant community involvement, Mower demonstrates an unwavering commitment to the celebration and advancement of women. The agency actively strives to utilize minority and women-owned vendors and businesses for creative campaigns. Mower also demonstrates strong community involvement in the places employees live and work, including board participation and pro bono partnerships with organizations making the world a better place for marginalized groups.

“The inaugural 2023 Elevating Women honorees demonstrate a consistent commitment to recruiting, hiring and promoting women in their organizations. These companies are to be commended for working toward systemic change in society to combat inequality,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of BridgeTower Media/Rochester Business Journal. “The Rochester Business Journal is pleased to recognize these businesses for all they do to elevate women in the workplace.”

The winners will be recognized at a cocktail reception and awards celebration in conjunction with the Women’s Leadership Summit on Sept. 28 at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center in Rochester.
