Clarke / EMA Welcomes Bonnie Limbach as a Senior Counselor, Public Affairs

Clarke / Eric Mower and Associates (Clarke / EMA), a marketing communications agency with offices throughout the eastern U.S., recently welcomed Bonnie Merrill Limbach as a senior counselor for the agency’s public relations and public affairs practice in its Sarasota office.

In her new role, Limbach, who has almost 30 years of experience in communications and journalism, will be responsible for the agency’s public affairs, crisis communications, community relations and media training.

Prior to joining Clarke / EMA, Limbach was a principal of Templeton Communications, providing communications counsel for corporate and nonprofit organizations in Virginia, New York, Washington, DC and Florida.

Before moving to Lakewood Ranch, Fla. in 2005, she spent 20 years in the District of Columbia, most recently as senior vice president for public affairs and communications for The Society of the Plastics Industry, a trade association representing the nation’s fourth-largest manufacturing industry. Limbach’s duties included media relations, program development for government affairs, communications and outreach activities.

She also served as a Congressional press secretary and spent five years as director of public affairs for the Oversight Board for the federal government’s resolution of the savings-and-loan crisis under the Bush and Clinton Administrations. At the Cabinet-level agency, she was responsible for media relations, communications planning and speechwriting for the Secretary of the Treasury and reports to the President and Congress.

A graduate of the University of South Florida, with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications, Limbach began her career as a news editor and columnist for the St. Petersburg Times and editor-in-chief of The Monitor trade publishing company in Clearwater, Fla.
