EMA Wins American Advertising Awards for Southwire Energy Center

ATLANTA — Eric Mower + Associates’ work for Southwire won a 2015 American Advertising Award for creative excellence in the American Advertising Federation (AAF) District 7 competition. Winners will be recognized on April 10 in Knoxville, Tenn., and presented with either gold and/or silver awards.

The American Advertising Awards (formerly the ADDYs) is the ad industry’s largest competition for creative excellence. EMA won gold at the local Atlanta Ad Club level in February, qualifying for the District 7 competition. Those who win district gold awards will qualify for the national competition.

“I’m thrilled for the recognition this installation is getting,” says Wally Stoneman, partner/creative director at EMA. “This project truly represents the power of collaboration – not only between a talented agency team made up of several different disciplines, but also with an extraordinary client team who had the courage to swing for the fences on this.”

Located in Villa Rica, Ga., the Southwire Energy Center houses sales, manufacturing and logistics operations in one space. It also allows customers to interact with products and observe the manufacturing process.

EMA created a multi-media experience at the Southwire Energy Center that brings the brand to life. Serving as the centerpiece, EMA created a life-sized “oak tree” crafted entirely of Southwire wire and cable. A custom-designed tone-on-tone wallpaper illustrates Southwire’s past, present and future through a series of photos and stories. A video highlighting Southwire’s capabilities spans the entire 60-foot back wall and two side walls of the lobby, and an “Observatory”—a glass observation deck— overlooks the factory.

“Southwire started from very humble beginnings,” said Kelly Hanson, VP of Marketing, Energy at Southwire. “But through hard work, determination and a commitment to the communities we serve, we have grown into an industry-wide symbol of strength, growth and sustainability. There’s really no better metaphor for that story than the mighty oak.”
