Drones are increasingly affordable and impressive, sparking a surge in purchases during the holiday gifting season. For all potential flyers, there are important safety points to think about if a drone is getting unwrapped this year.

Electric utility FirstEnergy tapped Mower for a new holiday-themed social campaign—that builds on a larger, integrated Drone Safety launch—to provide quick tips for new drone owners focused on picking the right drone, knowing the rules, and flying safe – especially when it comes to flying near power lines.

An initial Facebook and Instagram campaign before the holidays targets parents who might be thinking about giving a drone as a gift, providing three quick tips for giving a new tech toy to the young pilot in their life.

After the holidays, a Snapchat campaign targeting the teens and tweens who received a drone as a gift will invite them to try out FirstEnergy’s “Drone Safety Zone” online racing game to test out their skills first virtually. The electrifying racing experience—which already boasts 32,000 game plays—lets kids design their aircraft and race against other pilots, all while reinforcing important safety messages about drones and power lines.
