Thomas R. Brede joined Eric Mower and Associates as an account supervisor in the Public Affairs division of the Rochester office.
Prior to joining EMA, Brede was the press secretary for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada.
“Tom just gets it,” said Tom Proietti, communications professor and media analyst for St. John Fisher College and Monroe Community College. “He knows not only the Upstate New York area, but also the national and international media, trade and policy interaction arenas. In today’s quickly changing global landscape, Tom is the kind of person who gives clients an advantage. He combines vast experience as a communications practitioner with his intimate knowledge of public policy and direct involvement in crafting and communicating policies, strategies and directions.”
As part of the PA team, Brede will advise clients on significant business and policy issues, and help clients promote their interests on regional, statewide and national levels.
“The addition of Tom to our team strategically links our Public Affairs practice across all four major Upstate New York cities,” said Stephen Bell, partner and director of Public Affairs in Western New York at EMA. “His expertise in government affairs, particularly in legislative and media processes, will be key as we extend our PA practice in Rochester and throughout Upstate New York.”
EMA’s Public Affairs practice helps clients strategically manage the changing business landscape in their particular industries. The PA practice combines government relations, communications issues management and corporate citizenship planning, helping clients advocate for public policy issues, build strong reputations, and work with key stakeholders toward common goals.
A Rochester native, Brede graduated from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas with a B.A. in Communication Studies. He recently relocated to Webster, N.Y.
