Tom Eppes, senior partner and Charlotte, N.C., general manager for Eric Mower and Associates (EMA), was elected Oct. 25 to the office of 2009 Treasurer of the 32,000-member Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) at its annual Assembly, held this year in Detroit. He had been endorsed by the Society’s national Nominating Committee.
“As the leading organization for public relations professionals, PRSA provides incredible learning opportunities for its members and students, in addition to serving as the voice for the profession on important national issues,” said Eppes, a PRSA accredited member (APR) and Fellow. “PRSA has given much to me over the years, and I’m delighted to serve in an executive position where I can give back to an even greater degree.”
A long-time PRSA member, Eppes served a two-year term on the National Board of Directors in 2007-08. He has been National Board liaison to PRSA’s Board of Ethics and Professional Standards, its College of Fellows, and its committee on Advocacy. He is a College of Fellows member and past national assembly delegate, and has served on the Counselors Academy Executive Committee and as a Silver Anvil Judge. He previously served two years on the PRSA/Charlotte Chapter board, and was honored with its Infinity Award for lifetime contributions to the profession and the community.
Eppes, a public relations and integrated marketing communications practitioner with more than 30 years’ experience, has developed programs for some of America’s best-known companies, including Nucor, McDonald’s, Square D brand, Champion International, General Electric, Bojangles’ and AT&T. At EMA, he is involved in the strategic development for the agency’s Charlotte-area clients.
