Eric Mower Receives Lifetime Achievement Award from City & State Reports

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Eric Mower, chairman and CEO of Eric Mower + Associates, received the “Outstanding Lifetime Achievement in Sustainability, Corporate Volunteerism & Business Ethics” award from City & State Reports magazine.  The awards ceremony was held in New York City at Baruch College this morning, and was the second in a series of seven awards ceremonies and conferences that showcase outstanding New York corporations and business leaders.

One of the most important trends in business today, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) encompasses everything from philanthropy to environmentalism to the treatment of workers in the developing world. The goal of the event series is to promote CSR and encourage businesses to do well by doing good.

“I applaud the initiative that City & State Reports magazine has shown in its focus on Corporate Social Responsibility. At a time in our society when many wonder about and lament the bad behaviors and objectionable practices of some people and some organizations, City & State provides vital counterpoint that shows how the overwhelming majority of businesses conduct themselves at the highest level of integrity,” said Mower.

The program was created to honor outstanding business professionals from the New York region who, on behalf of their company or institution, have successfully promoted one or more of the following 10 Core Principles of Corporate Social Responsibility: Charity, Customers, Diversity, Environment & Sustainability, Equity, Ethics, Privacy, Sourcing, Transparency, and Volunteerism & Community Engagement.

Mower received his award in the New York Law, Consulting & Business Services sector.

EMA has a broad history of giving back to the communities in which it does business. On its annual “Day of Caring” staff from each of EMA’s eight offices dedicate time to giving back to their communities and helping local non-profit organizations. All EMA offices provide pro-bono professional services to community not-for-profits and employees are encouraged and supported to serve as leadership volunteers in community organizations.

At EMA, Mower serves as senior strategic and tactical counselor, and guides the agency’s overall policies, standards and practices. He was an early industry advocate for integrated marketing communications (IMC) and an early practitioner of utilizing advertising, sales promotion, and public relations in client programs and campaigns across a range of B2C and B2B categories.

Mower is active in industry affairs, and contributes to a number of professional, public and community service organizations. He served for more than 20 years on the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4A’s) board of directors and chairs the 4A’s Government Relations Committee, while also chairing the Advertising Self-Regulatory Council (ASRC) board. Mower is currently board member and vice chair for The Business Council of New York State; was an advisory council member for New York State Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s “New York Open for Business” marketing initiative; and was founding chair of the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor Commission. He is a life trustee for Syracuse University and serves on the Advisory Council of the University’s renowned S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
