Eric and Judy Mower Honored by The Salvation Army for Business Leadership and Philanthropy in Syracuse

The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area has recognized Eric Mower, chairman and CEO of Eric Mower and Associates, and his wife, Judy, with a Community Team Spirit Award for their outstanding contributions to the Syracuse region through business leadership and philanthropy.

The Salvation Army honored the Mowers on Sept. 26 at its annual Civic Celebration Luncheon, attended by more than 500 community leaders.

“Eric and Judy have consistently demonstrated their commitment to improving our community through their extensive involvement in civic organizations and causes. Their passion, commitment and expertise have greatly benefitted The Salvation Army and many other organizations. We’re fortunate to have leaders like the Mowers in our community, particularly in such a time of great need,” said Linda Wright, executive director for Professional and Community Services at The Salvation Army.

For 40 years, The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area has hosted the Civic Celebration, highlighting its accomplishments and recognizing outstanding community leaders. Proceeds from the event will help The Salvation Army provide vital services to more than 40,000 Onondaga County residents over the next year.

“There are many signs of hard times today, but Central New York is home to numerous organizations that bring hope and help to those in need,” said Mr. Mower. “Whether it’s through financial contributions, board leadership or providing in-kind services, we’re personally and professionally committed to helping enrich our community through giving.”

He is vice chair of the Business Council of New York State, and director for both the Syracuse Metropolitan Development Foundation and Syracuse 20/20. He is an active supporter of the United Way of Central New York, as well as many other area organizations, including the Salvation Army. He was a member, director and vice-chair of the Syracuse MDA during three decades; board member and chair of the Syracuse Chamber; and, in recent years the founding chair of The Syracuse Neighborhood Initiative and the founding chair of the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor Commission.

Mr. Mower is also a leader of advertising industry affairs. He has been involved with the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4A’s) for nearly 30 years, serving as director-at-large; national secretary/treasurer; chair of the Eastern Region Board of Governors; and chair of the New York State Council. He is the 14-year chair of the 4A’s Government Relations Committee, helping to guide state and federal legislation and regulation across the country.
