EMA’s Sean Casey and Matt Maguire Lead Workshop at NYSAC Conference

Two public affairs experts from Eric Mower + Associates spoke yesterday at a statewide legislative conference in Albany. EMA Partner and Director of Public Affairs Sean Casey and Senior Counselor Matt Maguire led the workshop “New Tools and Tips to Manage Public Feedback and Input” at the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) 2013 Legislative Conference. They co-presented with Courtney Fischer, director of Client Development at Broadnet.

The workshop focused on methods that county leaders can use to gather feedback on issues facing their county and better understand their constituents. Casey, Maguire and Fischer discussed the opportunities and challenges of teleforums, public opinion polling, social media, online surveys, and public hearings.

“We look forward to speaking at the NYSAC Legislative Conference each year and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to return again this year,” said Casey. “The atmosphere at the conference is energetic and engaging, making it such a pleasure to present.”

At EMA, Casey and Maguire work in the Public Relations and Public Affairs group providing strategic counsel to a broad range of clients, including several state associations. Both design and implement grassroots public affairs programs, handle sensitive projects related to client litigation, and often team with law and lobbying firms. In addition, each year Casey and Maguire conduct numerous training programs across the country.

NYSAC represents the 62 counties in New York State before federal, state, and county officials on matters that pertain to county government. The organization also works to keep the public informed on county issues and provide research on public policy.
