EMA’s Pamela Sawchuk Brown Discusses Entrepreneurship & Succession Planning at Albany Chamber Event

One of Tech Valley’s leading public relations experts recently discussed growing a successful business and dealing with succession planning before an audience of small business owners from across the region.

Pamela Sawchuk Brown, founder and former president of Sawchuk Brown Associates and current partner at Eric Mower and Associates spoke May 11 at a meeting of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Council. Her session was titled “Success Stories & Succession Planning.”

“I am very proud of the public relations firm that I founded 31 years ago and understand the role that planning, strong client relationships and exceptional client service played in the growth and success of Sawchuk Brown Associates,” Sawchuk Brown said. “Succession planning is critical to the future of any organization.”

As a business and community leader, communications executive and valued counsel to many of the region's decision-makers, Sawchuk Brown has received regional and national honors and been lauded by clients, colleagues and community leaders. She has helped position and promote chief executives of many businesses, organizations and institutions. She has established herself as one of the premier and most respected PR professionals in the area.

Sawchuk Brown founded Sawchuk Brown Associates in 1979, and with her late husband, David P. Brown, grew it into one of the region’s leading public relations and communications firms. In August 2008, Sawchuk Brown combined with Eric Mower and Associates and became a partner in that firm.

Sawchuk Brown is past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce. She serves on the boards of Proctor’s and the Center for Economic Growth. She is also a trustee of the Howard & Bush Foundation.

She was the recipient of the 2008 Outstanding Communicator award from the PRSA/Capital Region Chapter, honored in 2000 as one of the “100 Women of Excellence” of the 20th century, a recipient of the "Spirit of the Chamber Award" in 1997 and named “Woman of Excellence” by the Albany-Colonie Chamber in 1995.
