EMA Up for Two United Way of Central New York Spirit of Caring Awards

The United Way of Central New York has nominated Eric Mower + Associates for two Spirit of Caring Awards. Winners will be announced at the United Way’s Achievement Celebration on April 25 in Syracuse.

The agency was nominated in the Leadership Development category for its efforts to recruit new leadership givers and EMAer Dawn Kerr was individually nominated for Campaign Volunteer of the Year in recognition of her work as EMA’s 2012 United Way campaign coordinator.

“Putting others first is the hallmark of a true leader,” said Chris Steenstra, EMA managing partner and leader of EMA’s Syracuse office. “At EMA, we strive to benefit the communities around us. We’re pleased to support causes like the United Way and we are proud of Dawn, who did a masterful job of running our campaign last fall.”

EMA is a long-time supporter and volunteer of the United Way. Greg Loh, managing partner of EMA’s Public Relations + Public Affairs group, is the board’s chair. In 2008, the agency won the United Way’s Spirit of Caring Award for Professional Service for the agency’s pro-bono work with local non-profits and the annual "Day of Caring."

The United Way of Central New York presents the Spirit of Caring Awards annually to honor the outstanding achievements of corporate customers, unions and employees in CNY. Awards are given in six categories: Organized Labor Participation, Professional Service, Volunteer Service, Gifts-In-Kind, Leadership Development, and Campaign Excellence.
