Each year, BtoB magazine selects the top large, midsize, small, and interactive agencies based on business performance, client activity, significant achievements and major campaigns. Eric Mower and Associates’ (EMA) Group B2B finished as runner-up in the midsize category in BtoB’s 2008 Top Agencies Special Report, making EMA one of the top two midsize business-to-business agencies in the United States.
“This is an exceptional achievement because the agencies considered for this honor are best-of-breed. To be among those selected is a high honor and a tribute to our clients, our people, and our approach to BtoB marketing communications,” said John Favalo, managing partner for EMA Group B2B. “It’s noteworthy in the sense that, historically, the agencies selected in our category are nearly 100 percent business-to-business, while EMA’s business-to-business/business-to-consumer profile is about 50/50.”
BtoB credits EMA Group B2B’s innovative creative work and deep audience insight for delivering exceptional results to clients and growing its business 30% during a challenging year. EMA’s growth came from new clients such as GE Energy, SRC (formerly Syracuse Research Corporation), Technicon Industries and Verizon Wireless, as well as expanded work with existing clients such as Motorola and Georgia-Pacific.
Favalo said one of the most important things an agency can do to succeed is connect and activate client brands with customers in highly relevant, experiential, and personal ways. “We make business-to-business person-to-person,” he said.
Among EMA Group B2B’s major 2008 campaigns were “Print Is” for Eastman Kodak and “It’s Our Nature” for Nucor Steel, which are highlighted in BtoB.
EMA also grew its national presence last year, by combining with Clarke Advertising and Public Relations in Sarasota, Fla.; Mark Russell Associates in Syracuse and Atlanta; and Albany-based Sawchuk Brown Associates, and opening a service office in Los Angeles.
