EMA Wins Electrical Marketing Awards

Three campaigns created by Eric Mower + Associates Group B2B won awards for marketing excellence from The Electrical Distributor magazine. EMA clients Legrand/Pass & Seymour (P&S) and Southwire accepted 2013 tED magazine “Best of the Best” awards at the recent National Association of Electrical Distributors’ AdVenture Sales & Marketing Conference in Chicago.

The P&S “Designed for You” integrated campaign won in the Brand Awareness category (supplier over $250 million). The campaign unites the P&S brand promise (“The One that Works for You”) and the Legrand corporate promise (“Designed to be Better”) in a celebration of the electrical contractor. The judges said: “While Legrand has always put customers first, this program does an excellent job of communicating a shift from an internal product focus to an external customer focus.”

Southwire’s “SIMpull WireBARREL Wall Display” campaign won in the Creative Display category (supplier over $250 million). When research indicated that Southwire’s audience would better understand the SIMpull WireBARREL system and its benefits upon seeing it and trying it, EMA developed a piece that could be used at tradeshows and at distributor counter locations. The judges said: “This is an effective hands-on merchandising piece that not only showcases the product, but also features a brand visual that is pleasing to the eye and easily recognizable.”

Southwire also won in the Print Ad Campaign category (supplier over $250 million). A series of EMA-created ads promoted the launch of Southwire’s blog, Facebook page, Twitter feed and YouTube channel targeted to electrical contractors and distributors. The judges said: “We like the strategy of using traditional media to drive customers to social media—and the ads are very clean and clever.”

“This work offers three great examples of how EMA helps clients build affection, relevance and trust with their customers. We used human insights spark creative ideas, and rational and emotional appeals to engage the audiences and motivate response,” said Chris Steenstra, managing partner, EMA Group B2B. “‘Designed for You,’ for example, is more than an ad campaign. It’s a powerful reminder of the brand and parent company’s collective purpose: continually find new ways to deliver the most innovative products and solutions to help improve the work of a key audience.”

The annual “Best of the Best” awards honor effective and creative electrical marketing campaigns. A panel of marketing and industry professionals judged hundreds of entries across 50 categories. Each judge scores each entry using the same criteria, and not directly against other entries, through a cumulative point system. Winners are highlighted online and in the August print edition of tED magazine.
