Business Council of New York State and EMA Offer Workshop on Using Social Media in Strategic Communications

Two communications strategists from Eric Mower and Associates will lead a Business Council of New York State workshop on how to use social media as a tactic in strategic communications on Tuesday, June 14, at EMA's Syracuse office.

Social Media Strategist Matt Hames and Senior Counselor of Public Relations and Public Affairs Matt Maguire, both of EMA, will lead the workshop from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. EMA’s Syracuse office is located at 211 West Jefferson St.

This hands-on session will focus on the application of social media to advance the strategic communications—including sales and marketing, public relations and crisis communications—of any corporation or not-for-profit organization. It will include a detailed introduction to social media, examine mobile applications, and discuss crisis management in the digital age.

Participants will work on specific hypothetical business cases to learn how creative uses of social media can advance the organization’s strategic interests in both routine business development and crisis communications.

Detailed handouts will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring laptops.
