Ocean Thermal Energy Corporation: Brand Awareness Campaign

Marketing an industry to launch a company

A startup company, Ocean Thermal Energy Corporation (OTE Corp.), had big ambitions to sell its viable clean-energy solution, called ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC), and needed to gain media attention and reach influencers and investor communities. They turned to Mower to help increase awareness.

In response, Mower created The On Project — an information hub where individuals who cared about the environment, business growth in impoverished nations and humanitarian causes could learn about the benefits of OTEC, including 24/7 renewable energy, economic opportunity and clean, potable water. became the vehicle for starting and nurturing conversations about renewable energy and clean water, which often related to OTEC. Targeted social media tactics and commenting on news sites drove traffic to and ultimately to the OTE Corp. website.

OTE Corp. experienced a 300% increase in website visitors. 36% of traffic to the corporate site came from search. Within six months, OTE Corp. signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bahamas Electricity Corporation and an Energy Services Agreement with the massive BahaMar resort in the Bahamas. Within months of this, the company was meeting with potential customers in the Cayman Islands and nations in East Africa, the Pacific Rim and the Caribbean.
