Mower was deeply involved in one of the largest environmental remediation projects in the United States — the cleanup of Onondaga Lake, one of the most polluted bodies of water in America and a Superfund site. Working first for Allied Signal and then its successor, Honeywell Inc., we provided strategic counsel and community relations services, as well as local- and state-level public affairs support.
Mower helped design and implement an array of public information outreach initiatives to both build public approval for a dredging and capping remediation plan, and to satisfy the requirements of both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The assignment required us to build relationships and provide information to a wide array of environmental and community advocacy groups, including the Onondaga Nation.
