EMA Launches New Intern-Created Blog
09.27.2012
SYRACUSE, NY — Eric Mower + Associates recently asked its interns to create a blog for a client from the ground up. The catch? The client was them.
Twenty-three summer interns from across EMA’s seven offices and departments came together to research, develop, design and launch EMA’s “INTERNation,” a blog created by interns to share their experiences, while showcasing EMA’s agency culture and approach.
Originating out of EMA’s Diversity + Inclusion Council, the project was also designed to encourage interns to work alongside their peers and learn from each other’s diverse backgrounds and expertise. With EMA’s core value of collaboration at the forefront, interns from multiple offices communicated daily to make all the project decisions, just as EMA employees do on a day-to-day basis, providing a great learning experience for the interns.
While intern supervisors Meredith Dropkin and Jenny Lesczinski oversaw the assignment, the interns used their skills and interests to bring the blog to life. EMA Insight interns conducted research; creative interns developed the design; public relations interns managed the content; and interactive interns performed platform programming.
The blog is now permanently a part of the internship experience at EMA, with interns submitting content each semester. EMA interns earn course credit for their time spent at the agency.
