EMA’s John Favalo Teaches Advertising at Syracuse University

09.17.2012

SYRACUSE, NY — John Favalo, managing partner at Eric Mower + Associates, is teaching “Advertising Practice in a Diverse Society” at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.

The fall semester course will introduce students to the role of advertising in business and today’s society. Students will learn basic concepts, regulations, ethics and diversity associated with advertising, as well as how advertising fits into the marketing structure of most industries.

“My goal is to give students an appreciation for what goes on behind the scenes in the ad business, as well as expose them to different career options,” said Favalo. “The industry is transforming amid a changing global environment; this course is designed to help students develop a solid foundation and understanding of advertising within the communications field.”

At EMA, Favalo guides the strategic and business development of EMA Group B2B, working with clients to build brand value, establish competitive positioning strategies, and create integrated marketing communication plans. Named to BtoB magazine’s “Who’s Who in B-to-B Special Report” for six consecutive years, Favalo has served as chairman, vice chair, and treasurer of the Business Marketing Association. He has also served as member of the agency and media advisory board for American Business Media and business-to-business panel member for the Association of National Advertisers. Favalo, a Newhouse alum, has won numerous industry awards during his career.
