When Steve joined EMA in 2006, he jumped head first into some of Western New York’s most pressing issues—including health care, gaming, taxes, education and the law. Handling high-profile crisis management situations was a natural fit for Steve, who came to EMA from The Buffalo News. As editorial page editor, his analyses and opinions helped affect public policy and influenced state, local and national politics. During 20 years at The News—upstate’s largest newspaper—Steve also served as managing editor, city editor and business editor. Prior to joining The News, Steve was a reporter for The Associated Press in both Albany and Buffalo. His career began at the Stamford (CT) Advocate. As a senior member of EMA’s company-wide public affairs practice, Steve counsels clients regarding policy, media relations, crisis management, community and regulatory matters, as well as assisting in a full range of public relations services. His client experience includes:

  • Seneca Nation of Indians
  • HealthNow New York
  • Niagara Falls Bridge Commission
  • Erie County Medical Center
  • ElderWood Health Care
  • SPCA Serving Erie County

What it all means to you...

“For 30 years, I’ve analyzed and reported on stories large and small. I’ve met hundreds of people during that coverage. Through it all, I’ve been most fascinated by the tremendous influences the media can have on how government responds to almost any situation. Now I can use that expertise to provide clients with analytical, predictive and strategic insights into how media and politics are intertwined. In that way, I can provide value to clients who want and need to anticipate ‘how things work’ in a variety of business, government, political and media contexts.”
